To apply for financial assistance for your family law case follow these steps:
1. Go to our resource page.
2. Search through our list of agencies.
3. Pick the agency that best fits your family's needs.
4. Use the agency's contact information to get in touch with them.
5. Let them know you found their information on AFF's resource list.
6. Tell the agency your legal situation. Please note that it is at the discretion of each agency to award military families with their pro bono or reduced fee services. It is up to the agency to determine if there is in fact parental alienation taking place and if they are able to provide you with pro bono or reduced fees services.
8. If you are awarded reduced fee services by the agency, they will contact us to collect funds, such as family attorney retainer fees.
9. If approved, the awarded funds will be transferred to your chosen agency as soon as possible. We do give priority financial assistance to low-income military families, so please be patient while waiting for your awarded financial assistance.
10. Once approved, AFF will then transfer your awarded funds directly to your chosen agency.
Each and every case will be investigated by your chosen agency. This will take place to determine the details of the case. It is at the discretion of each agency to determine eligibility for reduced fees or pro-bono services.
Each military family may apply for assistance once every 12 months. The financial assistance limit is $2500 in legal fees per family, however, it does not mean every family will receive $2500. Financial assistance is determined after AFF and your chosen agency discuss the needs of your case. Pro Bono and reduced fee awards are at the discretion of every agency listed on our resource list. AFF does not guarantee or determine the cost of legal services, which is why it is imperative to thoroughly discuss the details of your case with your chosen agency.
